The MIB Rebels’ 12U team went undefeated and won its division championship at the Wild’N on the Island AAU qualifying tournament in Puerto Rico, leading a strong overall showing for the Virgin Islands program that also saw its 11U squad finish as first runner-up and qualify for the Caribbean Shootout in July 2026.
Competing from March 14 to March 15, the MyIsland Ballers teams delivered results across two age groups. The 12U team finished 3-0 to claim the title in its bracket, while the 11U squad went 2-1 and secured first runner-up honors in its division.
By finishing in the top two of their respective brackets, both teams earned qualification for the Caribbean Shootout, an international tournament scheduled for July 2026.
The release also highlighted the structure of the MIB Rebels program, which brings together student athletes from across the Virgin Islands. Organizers said that mix creates a diverse and dynamic team environment while helping to build camaraderie and unity throughout the territory.
Coach Maurice Wells said the performance reflected what the program is designed to foster in its players.
“Seeing our student athletes perform and compete at a high clip while having fun is what it's all about."
Student athlete Carter Rojas also spoke about the experience, saying the tournament provided both enjoyment and growth.
“I had so much fun at the tournament! Playing against different teams made me better, and I learned a lot every game. My favorite part was being with my teammates from STT, STX, and Tola we all came together like one big family. I’m ready for July!”
With one team returning home as champions and another finishing as first runner-up, the MIB Rebels now shift their focus to the Caribbean Shootout, where both squads will represent the Virgin Islands in July.
