Lilda Eleanora Decaille

Remembered for a life of faith, resilience and service

Lilda Eleanora Decaille, of Estate Mon Bijou, passed away on March 23, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on November 18, 1939, in Choiseul, St. Lucia, to Matilda and Harold Charles, she was the eldest of nine children. She later moved to Castries in her youth and eventually made St. Croix her home for the next 50 years. She is remembered as a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose life reflected resilience, faith in God, and determination.

Known to family and friends as Linda, she carried on the Charles family trade as a seamstress while also building a life as an entrepreneur. After working at Hess for several years following her arrival on St. Croix, she later opened her own children’s clothing store, “Nia’s,” in Frederiksted. She operated the business through the 1990s until retiring in 2004. She was also remembered as a world traveler who enjoyed creative hobbies, including making gift baskets for major holidays.

Mrs. Decaille was a devoted member of Sunny Isle Baptist Church, where she served faithfully over the years. Alongside her husband, Andrew George Decaille, she was active in the church community, and after his passing she continued serving through acts including sewing outfits for the junior choir, cleaning, and helping in other ways in service of God and her community.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew George Decaille; son, Timothy Decaille; mother, Matilda Charles; father, Harold Charles; sister, Maulin Charles; and brother, Clinton Charles. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Decaille; sons, Titus Decaille, Kendell Decaille and Dexter Decaille; grandchildren, Shanelle King, Timothy Jr. Decaille, Kendell Jr. Decaille, Nia Decaille, Imani Decaille, Noah Decaille, Kendra Decaille, Andrew Hayes, Amaya Decaille and Joshua Decaille; great-grandchildren, Nastaceya Washington, Na’Ima Hughes, Dominic Decaille and Charis King; sisters, Ucleda Grant, Nesta Charles, Marilyn Charles and Jennifer Charles; brothers, Nathaniel Charles, Thompson Charles and Wilburt Charles; and many precious friends and relatives too numerous to mention.

Funeral services for Mrs. Decaille will be held on April 17, 2026, at Sunny Isles Baptist Church. Viewing begins at 9:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to James Memorial Funeral Home, Inc.

She leaves behind a legacy of faith, work, service and family, and will be remembered by many precious friends and relatives whose lives she touched.
