ST. CROIX — A late-night collision on Midland Road left two people dead and five others transported to the hospital, according to the V.I. Police Department, which said the crash involved seven individuals and remains under investigation.
Police said officers were dispatched by the 911 Emergency Call Center at approximately 2:14 a.m. on Monday, January 26, to a reported automobile collision on Midland Road.
The Traffic Investigation Bureau’s preliminary investigation determined that seven individuals were involved in the crash. Five of those individuals were transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital for medical treatment, police said.
One of the vehicle occupants, 36-year-old Alberto Lawerence, was pronounced deceased by an emergency room physician and was later positively identified by his next of kin, according to VIPD.
Police also reported that 57-year-old Angel Miguel Felix Cortez, a pedestrian, was pronounced deceased at the scene and was later positively identified by his next of kin.
The V.I. Police Department said the collision remains under investigation by the Traffic Investigation Bureau.
